About your Guide
My name is Cliff "Big Country" Hill, hence Hill Country Fishin'. I have been fishing since I was in diapers (literally) and am excited to share my enthusiam for catfishing and the outdoors with you. I have been "cattin" all over south central Texas for years and traveled as far as Alaska in pursuit of a line stretching experience. It was in school the name "Big Country" was given to me as a nickname and has stuck with me through the years. I grew up fishing the San Marcos and Guadalupe Rivers for catfish. I left the great state of Texas to serve in the US Army for 8 years as Cavalry Scout and am a Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and former Staff Sergeant. It was in Iraq I realized the importance of pursuing my dreams and happiness, thus came Hill Country Fishin' to bring others the joys of fishing that I have been fortunate enough to experience. I am married to a wonderful woman,Carrie, who has supported me through a year in combat and all my crazy fishing endeavors. I am truly grateful for the oppurtunity to bring you and yours a memorable trip. I challenge you to find anyone more enthusiastic about catching fish as I. I truly appreciate the oppurtunity to go and catch fish in this great state and bring others the same oppurtunities I have experienced. I contirbute monthly to Maximum Outdoors ,a publication dedicated to Outdoor way of life, and enjoying being on the Pro Staff. I have been fishing Calaveras for years and know the lake well.I have been fortunate enough to be featured in several publications such as Texas Fish & Game Magazine, Luke Clayton Outdoors Radio Show, Catfishing Magazines and various newspapers and columns. I am currently pursuing my teaching degree at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas and have been instructing soldiers for years, so teaching people how to fish is a craft I can accomodate.
